Welcome back to MS Advice - let us discuss what happens once a university offers admission. Do not think you are done as soon as a university gives admission! Securing the admission is the beginning !!!

1. You usually will be expected to send a confirmation of you attending the university. This might incur a non-refundable fee.

2.
After you have made up your mind about which university you are
joining, visit and read their website (again) thoroughly. Especially
the section for international students.

3. Find and join the
email group of your batch - like Fall 2010 etc. These email groups are
very active and provide loads of good information.

4. Start
searching for roommates if you plan to share the living space. It is
good to arrange a get-together of people from your town going to your
univ and discuss. You might find roomies there !! Look for - eating
habits/smoking/drinking and any other preference you might have. Many
people end up learning to drink and smoke even if they do not have
those habits here, so do not be unduly bothered about personal habits.
It is hard to predict how people change once they change countries !!!!!

5.
Your university will start sending information about important dates
and events. They will ask you to fill out online forms, send documents
by fax etc. Please do the as early as possible.

6. Block a ticket on an airline - do NOT buy it, just block.

7. Request your university to send your I-20

8. Start working on VISA
