Exam Details:
============

CAT stands for Common Admission Test. It is an entrance exam conducted by the IIMs (Indian Institute of Management)  for their management programmes.

Pattern:
======
CAT has three sections:
1. Quantitative Analysis (QA)
2. Data Interpretation (DI)
3. Verbal Analysis (VA)

Number of questions and marks vary from year to year. And yes, there is negative marking.

In 2006 and 2007 CAT was conducted for 2.5 hours.

Almost every institute that takes CAT score has an overall cutoff for CAT for admissions. The top institutes such as IIMs and MDI also have a sectional cutoff. The sectional cutoff varies from institute to institute.
